In a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot, add enough oil to fill it about 2 to 3 inches deep. Heat to 375°F.

Cut the fish fillets into strips, about 1 inch wide and 3 inches long. Pat them dry with paper towels and season with salt and black pepper.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, and seasoned salt. Stir in the beaten egg, then gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and lump-free.

Dip each piece of fish into the batter, making sure it's fully coated.

Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil, cooking in batches for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
