Easy Chicken Shawarma Recipe (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Marinade

01 - 2 pounds chicken thigh fillets, boneless and skinless
02 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
03 - 3 tablespoons lemon juice
04 - 3 tablespoons olive oil
05 - 2 teaspoons ground coriander
06 - 2 teaspoons ground cumin
07 - 2 teaspoons paprika
08 - 2 teaspoons salt
09 - 1 teaspoon ground allspice
10 - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

→ Sauce

11 - 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt
12 - 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
13 - 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
14 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
15 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
16 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ Assembly

17 - 8 pieces pita bread
18 - 3 cups shredded lettuce
19 - 1 red onion, thinly sliced
20 - 4 tomatoes, sliced

# Instructions:

01 - In a large bowl, combine minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, ground coriander, ground cumin, paprika, salt, allspice, and black pepper. Mix well. Add chicken, coat evenly, cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
02 - In a small bowl, combine plain yogurt, mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir until well combined. Refrigerate until ready to use.
03 - Preheat grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Oil grates. Let marinated chicken rest at room temperature for 15 minutes. Grill 6-8 minutes per side until cooked through (165°F). Let rest, then slice thin.
04 - Warm pita bread on grill or in foil-wrapped oven for a few seconds per side.
05 - Spread sauce on warm pita. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, and chicken. Add extra sauce if desired. Serve immediately.
