Flaky Homemade Cronuts Recipe (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dough

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
02 - ¼ cup sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon salt
04 - ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
05 - ½ cup warm milk
06 - 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
07 - 1 egg
08 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Frying & Finishing

09 - 2 cups vegetable oil
10 - ½ cup sugar for coating
11 - 1 cup pastry cream or whipped cream
12 - 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

# Instructions:

01 - Dissolve yeast in warm milk and let stand 5 minutes until foamy.
02 - Mix flour, sugar and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add yeast mixture, egg and vanilla. Knead 5-7 minutes until smooth.
03 - Chill dough 1 hour. Roll into rectangle, fold letter-style, roll out. Repeat folding process 3 times.
04 - Cut into doughnut shapes. Let rise 30 minutes.
05 - Fry at 350°F for 2-3 minutes per side until golden. Drain, roll in sugar, and fill with cream.
