Cheesy Beef Appetizer Dip (Print Version)

02 - Yellow onion (1 small, diced, about 1/2 cup)
03 - Brown sugar (1 tablespoon)
04 - Garlic powder (1 teaspoon)
05 - Kosher salt (2 teaspoons)
06 - Ground black pepper (1 teaspoon)

→ Sauce Components

07 - Beef broth (1 cup)
08 - Ketchup (1 1/2 cups)
09 - Yellow mustard (2 teaspoons)
10 - Cornstarch (3 tablespoons)
11 - Water (3 tablespoons)

→ Cheese and Serving

12 - Shredded cheddar cheese (1 1/2 cups, divided)
13 - Toasted baguettes or bagel chips (for serving)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to broil, with the top rack about 6 inches from the broiler.
02 - In a large, oven-safe skillet over medium heat, combine ground beef, onions, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until beef is no longer pink. Drain excess grease if needed.
03 - Add beef broth, ketchup, and mustard to the skillet. Stir until all ingredients are well incorporated.
04 - In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch and water together. Pour into the beef mixture and stir, cooking until thickened.
05 - Remove pan from heat. Stir in 1 cup of cheese until melted. Top with remaining cheese.
06 - Transfer skillet to oven and broil for 3-5 minutes, until cheese is hot and bubbly.
07 - Serve warm with toasted baguettes or bagel chips.
