Ham and Cheese Rolls (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 12 slices white bread
02 - ¼ cup seedless strawberry jam
03 - 12 slices ham
04 - 4 ounces melting cheese (Eden or Velveeta), cut into ¼-inch x 3-inch strips
05 - 2 eggs
06 - ¼ cup milk
07 - 1 ½ cups bread crumbs
08 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
09 - Canola oil, for frying

# Instructions:

01 - Trim the edges of each bread slice with a knife. Use a rolling pin to flatten the bread until very thin.
02 - Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam over each flattened bread slice. Top with a slice of ham and place a cheese strip at one edge. Roll tightly into a log, sealing the seam. Use toothpicks if necessary to hold together.
03 - In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a separate shallow dish, combine the bread crumbs and Italian seasoning.
04 - Dip each bread roll into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the seasoned bread crumbs, pressing lightly to adhere.
05 - In a large, deep pan, heat about 2 inches of canola oil over medium heat. Fry the rolls seam side down, turning as needed, until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Serve hot.

# Notes:

01 - Freezing the breaded rolls for a few minutes before frying helps prevent cheese from leaking and improves breading adhesion.
02 - Use low heat when frying to ensure the cheese melts fully without burning the bread coating.
