Overnight Creme Brûlée French Toast (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Caramel Base

01 - 6 tablespoons butter (85g)
02 - ¾ cup packed light or dark brown sugar (159g)
03 - 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

→ For the French Toast

04 - 6-8 slices French bread, cut into 1-inch thick cubes
05 - 4 large eggs
06 - 1 cup half-and-half
07 - 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
08 - ¼ teaspoon salt

→ For Serving

09 - Sweetened whipped cream
10 - Fresh strawberries or raspberries

# Instructions:

01 - Microwave butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup for 1-2 minutes until sugar dissolves. Stir well to combine.
02 - Grease a 9x13-inch pan and spread the caramel mixture on the bottom. Arrange bread cubes in a single layer over caramel.
03 - Whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla, and salt. Pour evenly over the bread cubes.
04 - Cover pan and refrigerate for 8-10 hours.
05 - Place cold pan in oven, then heat to 350°F. Once preheated, bake 30-35 minutes until golden and bubbly. Serve hot with whipped cream and berries.

01 - Can increase custard for softer texture
02 - Remove thick crusts from artisan bread if using
03 - Can flip halfway through baking for caramel on top
